No more SCHEDULED updates at The Shock Treatment Network.

I started The Shock Treatment Network September 8, 1998.  It started out on a free Xoom account (wow, remember those days?), then eventually I bought my name and found a host and became the site you (and I) have come to love over the years.  At first, I updated it EVERY weekend.  Yep, that's right, there was so much to add regularly and it was my primary focus.  Eventually, it moved to every other weekend, then once a month, and finally every other month.

True.  There are fewer things to update, but that's not the real reason I'm ending the scheduled updates.  The truth is this: I haven't enough free time.

I still love Shock Treatment and have a strong need/desire to give the communtiy more, but I have OTHER things in my life that seem to be consuming my free time.  And things that I want to be doing.  It took me a long time to face the fact that I need to make some changes in my life to allow more time to focus on other things, and the STN scheduled updates were one of the obsticles.  Month after month (er, I should say every other month) I found myself waiting until the last minute/weekend to do a full size update--rushing this, and ignoring that due to time restraints.  Even as I type this, it is Friday, January 5, 2007 and I still haven't started the udpate that I promised would be ready by Monday, January 8.  I just fill my free time with other things that share just as much passion as Shock Treatment does.

So for the time being, I am going to just update periodically.  Think of it this way: I have some free time one night, I grab some screen caps for my ST movie novel and I put it together.  Then I post UPDATE: Movie Novel chapter.  Nothing else.  Maybe a few weeks later, you'll find one more update: Celebrity interview.  Nothing else.  Basically I'll take the FULL update that you're used to receiving and breaking them up one at a time as I can afford the time.

I still welcome any contributions to the site.  If you wanna make a word search for our games section, submit it.  If you wanna write a fan fic, I look forward to receiving it.  Of course, you'll get FULL credit for your contribution.

I'd like to take a second to welcome all of the newest members, particular those who discovered this site through the DVD commentary (Thanks Bill & Mike for the plug!).  Hopefully this announcement doesn't put a damper on your site-surfing experience.  There's still 8 years of content to discover in the site's huge labyrinth.  You fans are what this site was designed for and what keeps me from giving up the site entirely.

Sincerely, Donny O'Bryan, founder of Shock Treatment Network.
