CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN: "The Bird"


(As everyone sleeps, Betty Hapschatt continues to read the poem to a snoring Oliver Wright.  The poem is about impending doom, as evidenced by a dead bird.  Little does Betty know, the moral of her poem will ring true in seconds to come...  Vance Parker, DTV's security guard, is about to turn on the lights...)


Betty Hapschatt: (quoting poetry) "He went like one that hath been stunned and is of sense forlorn. A sadder and a wiser man, he rose the morrow morn."
 


(Oliver wakes up as Betty turns to face the security guard)


Vance Parker: "Does this bird belong to you?"


Betty: "Aaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
